This is an International Co-operative Entrepreneurship Competition aimed at high school, vocational training and university students to encourage attitudes of co-operative entrepreneurship and bring young people closer to the co-operative model through the development of business projects based on a similar model.
The Mondragon City Challenge is aimed at high school, intermediate and advanced vocational training and university students, both public, private and state-subsidised, from schools all over the world.
The participants in the third edition of the Mondragon City Challenge competition have faced the challenge of creating a business project from scratch, tackling any of the following challenges:
Technological and digital challenge
Health and social challenge
Energy and climate challenge.
It was a prerequisite that the project developed by the teams was based on a cooperative management model. The finalist groups had to defend their project before a professional jury at the event that took place on 10 April 2025 at the Amaia Theatre in Arrasate.
There, the 20 teams selected as finalists, after a stay of 4 days, enthusiastically presented their projects.
Among all the groups that were not finalists, the ‘Originality Award’ was also distributed and the group of EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL de LA MEKA received this award for being the project that the jury considered the most innovative, receiving a prize of 800 €.
