Autonomous Cars In Vocational Education

Our autonomous driving project is an initiative led by Tknika with the aim of integrating autonomous car technology, the open-source project Openpilot, and associated artificial intelligence into vocational education training. Three vocational education centres are collaborating and sharing knowledge in the project:  Oteitza Lizeo Politeknikoa, Cebanc, and Meka.

Within the project, the COMMAI 3X hardware has been integrated into a Hyundai IONIQ 5, and the first driving tests have been carried out; the initial impressions and results have been very encouraging. At the same time, the OpenPilot simulation software has been tested, and it has been verified that it is capable of providing training and practical exercises in schools.

The DriveMind project will conclude in June, and the educational material will be made available to vocational training centers in the Basque Country to bring the OpenPilot ecosystem into the educational field and offer students a hands-on experience.
